September, 2016 Quarter Update

This is the first of what we plan to be quarterly updates and status reports on Grow Decatur activities.
 
This has been prepared for members of our Stakeholder Committee, the Community Constituents Committee, and the many people who have participated in various Grow Decatur workshops and development forums over the past few years.  We thought we should provide this interim communication as a means to provide a snapshot of some of what we are currently working on.

September, 2016 Quarter Update
December, 2015 Community Update and Revised Plan

On December 1, Grow Decatur held 2 public Community Update meetings to report progress in compiling information, opinions, and priorities, and to present the revised Grow Decatur plan.  Meetings were held at the Decatur Public Library and at Hope Academy.  The sessions each included a brief overview of the Grow Decatur process and history, and then presented revisions to Grow Decatur's plan for future community development.  Comments and discussion were welcomed.

December, 2015 Community Update
August, 2015 Community Development Workshops

On each of August 14 and 18, Grow Decatur held a public 90-minute development workshop at the Decatur Boys and Girls Club, with the targeted intent to reach more citizens from within the African American community.  The sessions each included a brief overview of the Grow Decatur process and plan, and Decatur's progress in the plan strategic areas.  Following the overview, an open comment session was held.

August, 2015 Report
July, 2015 Preliminary Revised Strategic Imperatives

In July, Grow Decatur leaders met to discuss, analyze, and better understand the information gathered during the May and June community workshops.  As a result, we have developed this preliminary revision of Grow Decatur's Strategic Imperatives for future community focus.

June, 2015 Focused Development Workshops

From June 10 through 18, Grow Decatur held eleven 90-minute development workshops, each of which focused on a specific community improvement area.  Improvement areas included existing Grow Decatur Strategic Imperative areas, as well as others that had been identified in the May, 2015 general planning meetings as potential new Strategic Imperatives.

June, 2015 Report
May, 2015 General Workshops

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, May 18-19-20, we held 3 community workshops to revise Grow Decatur's plan.  These meetings included an assessment of Decatur’s recent progress and gathered input to identify areas of continued need for improvement.
